Day 25
Come, Holy Spirit
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Thy love.
V. Send forth Thy Spirit, and they shall be created;
R. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth. LET US PRAY.
O God, who didst teach the hearts of Thy faithful people by sending them the light of Thy Holy Spirit, grant us
by the same Spirit to have right judgement in all things, and evermore to rejoice in His holy comfort. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen
O Holy Spirit, sweet Guest of my soul, abide in me and grant that I may ever abide in Thee.
Up until today we have spoken about devotion to Mary and how it leads to her Son, Jesus. Today we will focus on Jesus Who is the ultimate end we seek in this Consecration journey. It is interesting that we use the word “seek” as it is Jesus Who seeks us. From the time we were fashioned in our mother’s womb, He knew us (cf. Jer 1:5). He not only waits for us, but also pursues us with His love. What is He looking for, one might ask? He is looking for our love. We are created out of love for the purpose of loving. Yet we are given free will to love or to turn away from that love that is offered to us. If Jesus does not have our love, no one can replace it—for the love each of us offers is unique. In the Gospel of John, Jesus identifies Himself as the Good Shepherd (cf. Jn 10:11) Who would leave ninety-nine sheep to find the one lost sheep. He values us so much that He would leave ninety- nine to find the lost one (cf. Mt 18:12-14).
Just as a field of wildflowers would not hold the same beauty if every flower were the same, just so each flower, whether violet or even the simple daisy, is precious and contributes to the glory of God. It is the same with our love. It is said, in the Gospel of Matthew, that Our Lord had “nowhere to rest His head” (Mt 8:20). When we love Jesus, our heart becomes a place of rest where He can put His head.
Goal: Jesus wants our love.
