What are our treasures? We have spoken about the value of protecting our fruits and treasures, but what exactly are these? What are we accumulating? If our focus is on the world and worldly things, we may be accumulating things that are only of this world and that can decay. These things have no eternal value. Yet here again, Our Lady helps to guide us to see the true treasures. The things that will remain are love and acts of love. It is love that will open to us the Kingdom of Heaven. Our Lady reminds us to seek the pleasure of the Father, not our own pleasures. What is the pleasure or wish of the Father? It is that we love God with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our mind and with all our strength, and that we love our neighbor as ourself. There is no greater commandment than these (cf. Mk 12:30-31).
If we seek as our goal to please God and follow His Will, then we will have fruits and treasures that have meaning to God. If we are obedient to Him and work hard, then our fruits will multiply.
As Our Lord taught, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal. But store up treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be” (Mt 6:19-21).
